Since the students and I have come back from Thanksgiving break, school life has been crazy. Our calendars are full with parties, musicals, lessons, and test to be taken. Sometimes I feel like a Grinch myself... The kids are tired, I'm tired, and Christmas is on our minds. The students do not want to work, and truly...neither do I. Little voices ask questions, and I answer with a tired voice. Then, I see smiles. I see bright eyes awaiting Santa. I hear laughter from funny Christmas stories and Elf on the Shelf events from the previous morning. I hear and feel the spirit in their voices as they sing and dance to Christmas songs. Christmas is not about surviving school until break, it is about feeling Christmas in the air each and everyday. Although break is an amazing two and half weeks of family, movies, and pajamas, we need to live in the moment; the moment of sweet children who love us teachers and the spirit of Christmas.
